Since February 2025, the International Centre for Traditional Irrigation in Europe (IZTB), based in St. Urban, has been working closely with the water management department of the city of Forchheim in Franconia. Thanks to this branch in Germany, the IZTB is better able to promote research, networking and conservation measures in the field of traditional irrigation in the EU. The highlight so far has been a conference held near Forchheim, which was a great success thanks to the outstanding work of the Bavarian Academy for Nature Conservation and Landscape Management (ANL). Immediately afterwards, the IZTB Advisory Board met in the city of Forchheim and went on an excursion in the Nuremberg area.
